More than just WordPress Maintenance

Hello World in multiple languages

Whether your website is for business use or for your personal blogging, there is a 1/3 of chance that it is running on WordPress. WordPress has become the first choice of many new website projects in these years. The reasons are obvious. It is largely due to its affordability, versatility and ease-of-use. Probably you didn’t even need to hire a professional WordPress Service Provider to get your project done.

These characteristics are not built on sand. WordPress hasn’t just removed most of the entry barriers to building sophisticated websites. Alongside with the abundant supply of different industry-specific features and a very strong support community, its ever growing library of pre-designed themes saves many amateur users from touching the creative specialty. Without some innate talent and proper training, not everyone is born to be a graphic designer. With WordPress all you need to do is to choose and install a theme for your site, import and replace the demo content with your own’s. Then almost instantly you have a beautiful site that is modern, retina-ready and compatible across multiple devices.

WordPress is not maintenance-free

One thing you need to bear in mind tough. No matter how simple a software is. None of the software is totally bug-free and bulletproof. It is particularly true as your website is connected to the internet and thereby exposed to external attacks. Like any other software, your WordPress site needs a bid of attention and maintenance work to keep it running stably and securely.

Normally to maintain a WordPress site isn’t a lot of works. As we have already pointed out, WordPress is known for its simplicity. Most of the update processes can be done with a few clicks. However, sometimes it is more than just routine maintenance. Whether it’s compatibility or security issues, loading speed, page layout adjustment or even getting more new visitors. It involves many moving parts. Not everyone have the time and know-how to do it in an effective manner. If your website is too old, or has grown into a certain size, perhaps it’s time to consider hiring a WordPress service company.

A WordPress Service Provider that you can count on

Here we are. We have been using and supporting WordPress since its debut. Hundreds of website owners have opted to put the day-to-day care of their website into our hands. They have one thing in common. They all have the peace of mind that their website is up-to-date and safe from any potential breaches.

In addition to one-off service call, where you can contact us for a quote on an ad-hoc basis for any thing that went wrong with your WordPress site, we offer 2 levels of Annual WordPress Maintenance Service. Respectively they are Essential WordPress Maintenance and Performance WordPress Maintenance:

Uptime, speed, security & growth: Everything you need for your WordPress Website Maintenance

1. Essential WordPress Maintenance

Both maintenance packages encompass a variety of tasks. The Essential WordPress Maintenance package provides with you all the fundamental services you need to keep your site safe and running at turbo-speed.

1.1 Website Inspection

If you are a new client, it is very likely that your WordPress website is not developed or set up by our team. To start with we’ll first need to do a preliminary health evaluation of your site. We’ll look into its software version, speed, security setup, mobile- and SEO-friendliness. And most importantly we’ll need to check and make sure there are no broken plugins, themes or infected files.

1.2 Speed Tuning

Based on our observation, more than half of the websites in Hong Kong are somewhat between slow to very slow. If unfortunately your website falls in this slow spectrum, we’ll improve its speed and make sure it delivers fast web experiences to its visitors.

1.3 Software Update

As a general user, you may not be aware of the importance of keeping website software up-to-date. Or in a worse scenario, you may even have a bad impression that the developers are trying to charge more through regular upgrades or updates.

The truth is if you don’t keep up with updating PHP, CMS, plugins, themes, and any other tools you use on you site, you won’t be able to take advantages of the latest releases. And at the same time, you also leave your site more vulnerable to security breaches and errors. We’ll take care of all this for you, executing updates and dealing with other technical issues that may arise.

1.4 Security

Maintaining a site’s security involves more than just software updates. The first thing to remember is that SSL certificates and firewall are no longer an option. Your site will need to install a SSL certificate if it doesn’t have it. Then it needs a firewall set up properly to mitigate DDoS attacks and stop malicious bot abuse. On a regular basis, we’ll perform site security scans and troubleshoot any other security issues that might crop up.

1.5 Backup

Periodic website backups are crucial. The frequency of backups depends on how often new content is posted to your site. Doing it weekly is the minimum.

In this respect we’ll review your current backup plan. Most hosting services come with basic backup features. Albeit most of these functions are good enough for most websites, we’ll always couple it with off-site backup for a (nearly) total protection. However, if you are running an e-commerce, social website or a business portal, that in theory these sites are updated continuously, we may have to take a more exhaustive approach in planning and executing your backup activities.

2. Performance WordPress Maintenance

Now you have the basic maintenance needs covered. When you’re ready to promote your website and take your online presence to the next level, everything you need are there in our Performance WordPress Maintenance package:

2.1 Image Optimization

Large images slow down your site. It could be a very bad user experience.

To further improve your website’s performance, what we need to do is to reduce the image’s file size without compromising their quality. Yet tedious, perhaps it is one of the easiest things to implement while a lot of website owners overlook this.

2.2 Content Management

High-quality website content is a proven strategy you can use to promote your business. In other words your website is potentially missing out on a huge number of traffic by lacking the kind of content that are interesting to your target audience.

Merely having a homepage, product & service page, about page, or FAQ is not enough. Your website content should match the search intent of your potential customers and provide answers or solutions to their problem.

Besides your web content should not be limited to text and a few decorative images. Additionally it should also include rich elements for your audience to interact with. Such rich content may include case studies, checklist, features comparison, research/ reports, and white papers. Whereas they can come in different forms: podcasts, videos, infographics and eBooks.

Look no further no matter you need regular content update in your site or need to refresh its old content. We know exactly what content to write and create outlines and content calendars quickly and efficiently.

2.3 Technical SEO

Technical SEO is all about improving the technical aspects of a website in order to make it easier to crawl and more understandable by search engines. The goal is to increase the chance of the ranking of its pages in the search engines.

These services allow you to keep an eye on the general performance of your site from a search engine prospective. Even SEO is not on your priority list, creating a strong technical foundation will certainly give users a fast, clear and easy-to-use web experience.
